1st Audiovisual Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation in Casanare: Progress of the Agrocommunity Project

The National Open and Distance University – UNAD, Amazon Orinoquia Zone, hosted the 1st Audiovisual Festival of Science, Technology and Innovation in Casanare, as part of a project to strengthen the linkage of agriculture, agro-industry and tourism issues in the region. Called AgroCommuniTIC. This event is a milestone in the advancement of science and technology diffusion in the sector.

The AgroComuniTIC project aims to create a communication channel that promotes ancestral and academic knowledge of science, technology and innovation in agricultural, agro-industrial and tourism affairs in Casanare. It started on September 16, 2021 and lasted until March 15, 2024. Work has been carried out to develop activities that will allow strengthening the connection between knowledge creators, content communicators and audiences.

One of the special activities of the festival is the presentation of audiovisual, radio and editorial content showcasing the research and innovation experiences of the Kasanare Department in agriculture, agro-industry and tourism affairs. This initiative is fundamental because 200 related contents will be created in a transmedia race, creating a narrative universe of science, technology and innovation in Casanare. It will allow to connect knowledge communities, recognize and organize 100 scientific, technological and innovation experiences in the region and position Casanare as a territory where these stories are possible in different fields.

The AgroComuniTIC project has the participation of key researchers such as Blanca Carvajal, forestry engineer and researcher in the CAZAO research group at UNAD, and Natalia Roa López, author of Communication, Development and Social Change, researcher at the ABC Colombia Joint Institute. . Project Director Engineer Zulma Lorena Duran Hernández, Associate Researcher of the CAZAO Group and National President of CampoUNAD. There is also the participation of María del Rosario Diaz Olaya, head of the CAZAO research team, and communication and scientific experts from participating institutions as project leaders such as UNAD, Unitrópico, Nuevo Oriente newspaper, Violeta Stereo radio station and Suversion news portal.

The AgroComuniTIC project is a science, technology and innovation communication initiative. At CTeI in Casanare its emphasis lies in overcoming the lack of human, technical and technical resources for communication production, as well as in destabilizing knowledge communities with the media and other strategic actors. AgroCommuniTIC seeks to strengthen and expose companies, professionals, researchers and young people, with the aim of avoiding the production of redundant research papers, promoting science closer and relevant to regional development and promoting knowledge exchange.

The benefits of the AgroComuniTIC project in terms of research and communication are diverse. An inter-institutional network was created to improve the relationship of initiatives in science communication with departmental coverage, to strengthen technical and communication skills for the production of scientific content in the field, and to create teaching content in various media and formats based on the results of research. To date, the project has produced 80 pieces of content, including 38 articles published in the Nuevo Oriente newspaper, 28 podcasts broadcast on partner stations and 14 video clips shared on the Suversión digital news portal. These contents contribute to the creation of a narrative universe related to Casanare, but which can also be replicated in other fields, allowing for the continuous expansion and development of the project. Currently, the production of another 120 transmedia products with 60 CTeI experiences is being developed.

AgroCommuniTIC is a 2019 call from the Science, Technology and Innovation Fund. 4 Funded with resources from the public royalty system. A total of $2,104,830,604 in funding was received from the Casanare department’s public royalty system. In addition, the project has left an established capacity at CEAD Yopal with its media laboratory, available to researchers and students of social communication and visual arts, promoting the development of audiovisual works.
