Almost a year and a half after her mother’s tragic separation, her granddaughter had come into the world (September 30). Karina Rivera A great reason to smile again. At 54, the children’s host promises she’s living the most “wonderful, full and honest” phase of her life. “Isabelita filled a void and filled everyone with energy and joy, especially my father, who at 86 had the joy of meeting his great-granddaughter.”, he commented.

In this interview, the heroine of the famous children’s duo Karina and Timodio reflects on motherhood, responds to the critics of her daughter Doris Fundicelli (23 years old), remembers her time on television, and tells us about her current partner, the executive. Alejandro Rodó Iglesias.

“When Doris became pregnant, many said: ‘How cruel’, ‘How outrageous’, ‘How did she screw up?’ And many other things. I want to tell those people that we are not the ones to judge. We must learn to look at our lives because the mistakes we make are lessons learned. People who make mistakes are no worse or worse than others. My daughter has not completed her studies, but she finds time to study. There is no age to study. As long as one does not lose one’s compass and continues to dream, life can be very beautiful for everyone” says Rivera.

Like Doris, Karina was a mother in her twenties. Before she got into television, she had her first child, Alejandro Heredia, at the age of 23. At that time – the artist recalls with nostalgia and gratitude – she had the unconditional support of her mother.

“At that time I was living abroad with my son’s father. My mother was with me during the delivery and stayed by my side until Alejandro was three months old, then she returned to Lima. He taught me many things that I now pass on to my daughter.”, he nods.

In 2020, after 15 years of marriage, Karina and Orlando Fundicelli confirmed their separation. Recently, after the arrival of little Isabella, the two appeared together again in a video, giving each other a symbolic hug inside a local clinic after becoming grandparents. A picture – depicting a TV anchor- sums up the good relationship they have as parents.

“We were both fascinated and drooling over this state of grandparenthood. As seen in the Orlando photos, you will also see my boyfriend there. We are adults and we don’t want to live in strife“, he points out after highlighting the good emotional moment he is having with his partner Rodo Iglesias.

“We will be 4 in December. We are not talking about marriage, we are not thinking about marriage. We are happy, relaxed and enjoying every moment. He is a fake grandfather, what is he doing to help my daughter, comes with us. Everyone’s job here is to keep our kids happy and make us happy.”, he insists.

Away from television, Karina continues to entertain adults and children with her twins Timodio, but from different settings, with live shows. This November 18, it will be presented at La Ruta del Hurayque, a gastronomic exhibition that runs from November 17 to 19 at the Exhibition Park.

“During the reunion, the children who saw us on television, now grown up, said that we were like their nannies as we took care of them and supported them. Something happened that marked me, something strong. Two people told me: ‘Thanks to you, I’m not suicidal.‘. Knowing that we were able to help this program in those 4 hours, I am grateful with all my heart.”, he insists.
