Nicolás Maduro predicts “growth, progress, recovery and many victories” for the Venezuelan economy

Caracas, Sep 23 (EFE).- Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro said this Saturday that he expects “growth, progress, recovery and more success” for his country, which has maintained a path of economic growth for “eight consecutive quarters”. He said recently without specifying the period.

“They (Simón) Bolivar cannot and will never be with the people as we build the homeland. Coming to Venezuela means growth, progress, recovery and more victories,” the head of state wrote on the social network. )

Likewise, the president assured that the Venezuelan people “have renewed hope and overcome difficulties through their own efforts and national unity”.

Last Thursday, Maduro said that according to official forecasts, internal trade in Venezuela will close 2023 with a growth of 40%, which reveals the “powerful, important vigor” of the sector.

In addition, it expects oil production, which grew 12% from January to August on “own efforts,” to reach one million barrels per day (bpd) this year and to “increase” to two million in 2024.

Since mid-2021, after an 80% cut in seven years, the country has been recording an increase in its economic activity until it grows “above” 15% in 2022, according to official figures.

The director of the company Ecoanalitico, economist Asdrúbal Oliveros, recently told EFE that in the period from July to December, “an improvement compared to the first semester” is expected, after the economy entered a “recession cycle” with “little signs of growth” in the first six months.
