Peru and China to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, innovation and digital economy |  news

The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte Zegarra, reviewed today her state visit to the People’s Republic of China and highlighted significant achievements that strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Peru and the Asian Institute.

During a press conference held at the Government Palace during the visit of the Head of State, the Government signed thirteen documents, among which the ‘Program of Joint Action 2024-2029’ (PAC 2024-2029) stands out.

“This Joint Action Plan will guide our cooperation in key areas such as digital economy, science and technology innovation and infrastructure and reinforce our mutual commitment to deepen our bilateral relationship.“, said the President before various media.

He pointed out that another important milestone was the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding to establish the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism for Economic Cooperation (MDECE), which will serve as a platform to coordinate efforts in support of sustainable economic development, especially in investments.

Likewise, he announced the conclusion of negotiations to promote a free trade agreement between Peru and China, which promotes electronic commerce, encourages investments and facilitates the internationalization of SMEs.

We hope to sign a renewed FTA agreement in November at the next APEC summit in Lima”, he insisted.

Likewise, he said, Chinese donations have been formalized to host APEC Peru 2024, and agreements signed with Huawei to train 20,000 Peruvian talents. In addition, health protocols were established for the export of table grapes and other products to the Chinese market.

Subsequently, the President celebrated the creation of the Peruvian-Chinese Business Group, which will allow us to strengthen our economic and trade relations.

“I called on President Xi Jinping in time for the opening of the new Sankei megaport in November. This joint Sino-Peruvian investment aims to transform Peru into a logistics, industrial and technology hub, facilitating connectivity between South America and the Asia Pacific.”, he emphasized.
