Apple’s iPad line, which will officially cease production in 2022, is now considered obsolete in the eyes of tech retailers.

Vintage technology dealer Retrospect has put “refurbished and refurbished” fifth-generation iPads—the non-touchscreen model—for sale on the website of fashion retailer Urban Outfitters. Retrospect described the iPad as “true retro vintage technology” with a new battery and 129 gigabytes of flash storage.

It is not clear how many devices were in stock, but the devices have already sold out.

That particular iPad model was released by Apple in 2007 and sold for around $249 at that time. For more than 15 years, it sold for $349 at Urban Outfitters, according to Fast Company.

The first iPod debuted in October 2001 and became one of the most popular gadgets of the 21st century. Now, it has become a potential collector’s item for vintage tech enthusiasts and those less reliant on Generation Z smartphones.

The first-generation Apple iPad mini was also listed on the site for $199 and sold out. The same model is being offered on eBay for nearly $4,000 brand new.

In May 2022, Apple announced that the last remaining iPad in its product line, the iPod touch, would be sold only while supplies last. Sixteen years before the company ended production, the iPod line accounted for roughly 40% of Apple’s revenue at the time.

A review listed by Urban Outfitters described the fifth-generation iPod as “overrated outdated technology.” The insider It was not possible to verify that the eight reviews under the device were actually from customers who purchased an iPad.

“Now it appears in Urban Outfitters at the same price as 30 years ago? Tim Apple must be rolling in his grave,” wrote another reviewer.

Urban Outfitters said in its annual report earlier this year that its target customers are “young adults between the ages of 18 and 28.”

The late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who returned to lead the company after being ousted by the Apple board during his tenure, announced new iPads on stage in a black turtleneck and jeans before his death in 2011.

Demand for iPads declined following the growth of iPhones in the smartphone industry, although the company continued to sell them after the smartphone was introduced. Both products contributed to Apple’s resurgence as a technology giant.
