‘Cubesat Panama’, the first Panamanian satellite project

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Director of International Cooperation Margelia Palacios announced last June 15 that Panama is also taking over the skies as it plans to place the first national satellite in Earth orbit with the ‘Cubesat Panama’ satellite.

“We are embarking on an extraordinary journey that will not only shape the future of our beloved Panama, but also push us to the forefront of scientific research and technological innovation. This is a significant step forward for the country, Panama has taken a pioneering leap in the field of space science,” Rector of the Technical University of Panama during the presentation of the project between UTP Omar Aizbura said. and the National Secretary for Science, Technology and Innovation (Senacid).

Dr. Rodney Delgado, UTP’s National Director of Space Sciences, said, “The mission of this program is to develop space technologies for the social or socioeconomic benefit of our nation and region.”

The construction of the satellite is being financed by the Italian-Latin American Institute, an intergovernmental organization in Rome with the aim of promoting relations between Italy, Europe and Latin America.
