The export of Peruvian births abroad was US$ 549,601 between January and October of this year, registering an 11.3% growth compared to the same period in 2022 (US$ 494,015). According to Association of Exporters Production Management (ADEX).
The union highlighted its performance as it showed an upward trend for the third consecutive year (January-October). After falling by -44% in 2020 (US$ 365,141), they recovered with an increase of 7.7% in 2021 (US$ 393,176) and 25.6% in 2022 (US$ 494,015).
However, it should be noted that this year's amount (US$ 549,601) is still far from its historical record achieved between January and October 2018 (US$ 924,987).
Markets
In these 10 months of 2023, the leading destination was Italy, which accumulated 34% of the total, demanded 188,748 USD and recorded a decline of -3.6% compared to the same period last year.
In second place was US$ 134,259 and increased by 7.7%, accounting for 24% of the total. They finished Top ten France, Germany, Puerto Rico, Spain, Panama, Mexico, Bahamas and Canada. They reached 17 countries in total.
These pieces were exported in several batches, of which other figurines and other items for ceramic ornaments accounted for 80%. Among them are ceramic nativity scenes, purilato accessories, ceramic ornaments, nativity scenes in glass bottles, mainly from Lima, Callao and Ayacucho.
Others are other vegetable or mineral products for carving, Christmas party items and other ceramic products, which account for 7.5%, 5.3% and 3.8% respectively.
In this context, ADEX noted that the recovery of demand for these products in international markets is once again a business opportunity for Peruvian artisans, who expect 2024 with more orders.
