The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in its technical report on the situation of the labor market in metropolitan Lima, indicates that the average monthly income of Peruvians working in this region of the country is S/1,926.10. This figure is 6.8% higher than the previous year's quarter.

How much do Peruvians earn on average?

Likewise, the report indicates that the average income earned by Peruvians across all regions of the country is S/1,674.40. This figure is derived from an analysis of 2023 earnings, which is 9.9% higher (S/150.40) than that announced in 2022 (S/1524.00). In urban area it was S/1,833.20, S/953.20 higher than that recorded in rural area which was S/880.00.

Regarding the breakdown by age, INEI indicated that the average monthly income of those aged 25 to 44 was S/1,814.50 (an increase of 10.5% compared to 2022). For a group of persons 45 years of age or older, the amount is S/1,662.90 (10% more). Finally, for Peruvians between the ages of 14 and 24, their monthly income was S/1,133.50 (3.3% higher).

On the other hand, the company also took into account the division by gender. The average income of the female gender is stable at S/1,405.10 with an increase of 12.7% (S/158.20), while the income for the male gender is S/1,873.50, which is 8.5% higher than in 2023 (S/146.90).

INEI: Which sector has the best returns in 2023?

According to INEI report, the construction sector is the best earner with S/2,029.20 per month. Then, followed by services (S/1,996.20), manufacturing (S/1,734 soles), trade (S/1,483.60) and mining, fishing and agriculture, with (S/992).

The report was prepared in conjunction with the results of the Permanent National Employment Survey (EPEN), which is conducted every quarter due to the rapid social and economic changes and the emergence of new work patterns observed in the country in recent years.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the sample size was 33,992 private households distributed among 7,510 joint ventures and at the city level, 27,420 private households distributed among 6,295 joint ventures.
