The Magistrate started the hearing at 4:10 pm, the parties including the prisoners gave their information and he considered the session established. However, after this, the judge took cognizance of the fact that Sada Korey’s defense had submitted a written request to amend the case and asked it to be supported.

For his part, Freddie Nino, a lawyer from the Special Committee Against Corruption in Power, did not oppose the rescheduling request. However, he told the judge who questioned him that he had at least seven lawyers besides Jose Orrego, who had known about the case since last June. In addition, the businessman’s defense was used by former lawyer Delmo Zavala.

“If reasonable time is requested, lawyer Orrego Sánchez understands that he is going to speak. [la defensa] In the next session. In Thursday’s session, the judge declared that it is up to the prosecution to present the facts under investigation and the elements of conviction (evidence) related to them. After that, only the lawyers of the accused will participate.

As for Luis Mesones, a fugitive who has been on trial since July 7, neither he nor his lawyer have appeared in court. For this reason, the judge did not institute a trial against him, but only four others. His case, he explained, will be processed independently.

Previous information

The request was made by Provincial Prosecutor Christian Nino Torres, DCommittee of Special Prosecutors Against Corruption in Power. Pending the Magistrate’s decision, the accused shall be remanded in preliminary custody. If pre-trial is approved, they will be jailed.

The move also affects Luis Mezonez Odar (fugitive, former General Manager of Marca Group and ex-husband of Corey) and Pedro Arroyo (former president of Fondo Mivivienda SA)..) and Roger Kavidia Johansen (former member of Mivivienda Fund’s Risk Committee and former National Superintendent of State Assets).

As revealed by El Comercio, the illegal payments made by the businessman during the government of Pedro Castillo totaled S/5.4 million and were made in 11 deliveries between September 2021 and June 2022.

With that money, Sada Gore appointed his confidants to key positions in the Mi Vivienda program, the National Watch for National Assets, and Sedapal.
