World Bank President Ajay Banga held a meeting with Peru’s President Tina Polwart today Monday, where he assured the institution he heads will continue to contribute to closing the country’s economic and social gaps. Banga is in Peru this Monday as part of his first international tour since taking office. Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) President Ilan Goldfajan was also present at the meeting with Peruvian officials, the first time the two representatives have met since Goldfajan recently assumed his new post.

Alex Contreras, Peru’s Minister of Economy and Finance, said the visit represented an “acknowledgement” of the government’s efforts to improve the perception of the country among international investors.
