Compared to November 2022, the index fell by 1.4%.

The industries that contributed the most to the decline in Japanese industrial production in the eleventh month of 2023 were motor vehicles, electrical machinery, and electronic equipment and machinery for information and communication.

Conversely, machinery manufacturing, other manufacturing and plastic products experienced more significant increases.

According to data from the ministry's survey of national firms, Japanese industrial production is expected to increase 6% in December, a more optimistic forecast than the previous survey, where a 3.2% increase was expected. %

As of January 2024, the most recent survey published today estimates that the indicator will decline by 7.2%.
