Guanajuato, Gto., November 2, 2023.- Provided by the State Government, Ministry of Environment and Regional Planning (SMAOT). Roadmap “Circular Guanajuato: Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy 2050” In the virtual forum “Reasonable and Ambitious: The Circular Economy – A Concrete Response to Transformational Demands in a Changing World” The event is organized by the Brussels-based German Federal Environment Agency.

In alliance, Guanajuato is advancing through cross-cutting work with the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) to strengthen the efficient use of resources and the circular economy, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Through cross-cutting work with GIZ, strategies are developed to strengthen the sustainability of local industry through studies, training and workshops; It moves SMEs towards that efficiency.

More than 180 companies from the sectors of construction, agribusiness, manufacturing, chemical industry, services, municipalities, academia and tannery participated in various workshops and identified their own processes with identification of their own roadmap for implementation.

As a result of international cooperation between Mexico and Germany, this roadmap was presented as an example of linking the circular objectives between Guanajuato and the European Union, seeking a balance between prosperous development, quality of life and environmental care.

The state government’s environmental policy promotes the integration and development of Guanajuato’s environmental agenda with the international community, strengthening strategies, programs and actions to mitigate and adapt to climate change; Towards a better quality of life for the people of Guanajuato.

From SMAOT, these strategies are coordinated by the State Training Agency (IECA), Sustainable Economic Development Secretariat (SDES) and organized civil society and international organizations.

These alliances allow the State to obtain national and international funding to improve its environmental policy and implement projects focused on environmental protection and restoration.
